| Lawn Care Steps Everyone Should Know |
|
| |
EARLY SPRING
Repair winter damage. Treat with pre-emergence crabgrass killer, insecticides; fertilize and reseed if necessary.
LATE SPRING
Kill broadleaf weeds; fertilize lawn and flowers.
EARLY SUMMER
Water generously and often; fertilize and apply post-emergence herbicides and insecticides as needed.
LATE SUMMER
Watch for sod webworms and other insects. Fertilize and water heavily.
EARLY FALL
Seed and fertilize, prepare for winter by mulching and pruning various shrubs and trees.
KEEP YOUR LAWN HIGH
Longer grass shades out weeds and gives the lawn more leaf surface to produce food. General rule is never cut it shorter than 2 to 2.5 inches.
KEEP YOUR BLADE SHARP
Sharpening mower blades frequently leads to a cleaner cut and a healthier lawn.
MULCH, MULCH, MULCH
Grass clippings provide much needed nutrients to your yard (at no cost). Most mowers today offer a mulching attachment so mow frequently and keep those grass clippings out of the trash. |
